I need you help people. I was doing a run from Beacon's Perch to Droknar's forge. Anyway, we finished it and everyone wouldn't pay. One guy even went so far as to type things like 'you scammed me' after seeing that I was only 1k more expsensive over someone else. He then typed things acting as if i scammed him and ran. He said he was gonna report me to ANET. I didn't scam him, however I think that with the way he typed, it could easily convince someone that he was scammed and I was just playing dumb. Is there anyway for me to counter his report if he does? I don't want my account banned and for me to not have anyway to prove it false. Please, can someone help me?

Most likely if ANet does look into it, they will view their logs, and see that the guy was full of himself. You could also take your own screenshots of the message.

You are fine, Devts. As said, IF (and that's a big IF) he reports you, and IF (another big IF) ANet reviews the logs, they will see that you did not scam him. Running is a legitimate "business" in GW so unless you conveniently left out some other facts, you're fine.

Yep, A.net is like Big Brother. The are watching you.

Every single chat is logged and dated on file to be looked over. They cannot see you ingame due to the instances, we maybe in town areas, but not in adventure areas, but they are able to track and monitor all conversations through chat.

A.Nets says WE ARE WATCHING YOU. * evil chuckle *

well thats the problem. if they can't track in adventure areas, they will probally side with him. i dunno. hopefully this will all turn out right.

and btw, how in the world will they find what they are looking for if the log has everysingle thing done in the chat room? sounds pretty big to me.

thats what i think. your not going to get scammed if you act smart. what anet needs to concentrate on are the botters and jerks (like this guy) that make GW a frustrating place.

So I do have one serious question about this whole thing - and I don't mean it to be accusatory....

But something sounds odd about this story to me. You ran people to the forge - no-one in the group would pay, and 1 person accused you of scamming?

It sounds like there's more to the story to me. Sure - people are going to scam you when you do that kind of run - but for everyone to scam you, and 1 person to accuse you of scamming?

Now, I'm not saying that you were - but is there anything about this whole run where your customers weren't satisfied or were suspicious of you for some reason?

I don't think A.Net does anything about scammers unless one person gets reported repeatedly. I'm sure they get 1000 reports a day, with most of them coming from idiots, so it's impossible to follow up on all of them. However, if they get 10 on the same person (all coming from different players), which is quite possible when someone goes on a scamming spree, they will probably check the logs and do something.

Anyways to the OP i wouldnt even give it another thought, I guarontee no action will be taken unless there is some blatant text with you stating how you wtfpned him for a large sum of cash and then bolted.

Okie, now a tip for wanna-be contreband/trafficker here:
- plan your route so that you could stop at a quiet place (half-way) and collect half of the money.
- disclose that you need half the money half-way, and the rest at destination.
- disclose that you would be back at the stated district if someone got dropped and you would
do the run again until they got passed.

I'd have to agree there's gotta be thousands of reports, probably one-sided, that CS would have to try to settle. I honestly don't feel too sorry for you because I think running is pretty cheesy, but I would guess that any private transactions in the game are handled like a verbal agreement between you and the other person. (anotherwords it's buyer beware) I think the best thing you can do is chalk it up to experience and maybe make sure you get paid partly halfway through or something as the previous poster suggested.

Considering it is only half of the story he might have a reasonable reason not to pay.

I am curious. How much are you charging? If someone accepts your "service" then they should pay you. A Deal is a Deal in my book. I have seen people asking for 5K and up for the trip. I will call them on it in the open chat. That is just plain too high. 2K is more then fair. I had a guy do it for us at 1.5K. (These are our second set of characters, I finished the game fully with my first) He was a decent person too. He would stop and Recharge/Heal and then show us the view. Explain what he was using as skills/spells as well. So I gave him a full 2K. He didn't want it at first, but I told him he earned the "tip". This was just a few days ago too. After the update to the run. Mega-Mobs of bad guys. I made it half way.

There were only 2 people, and they were in the same guild.
